Trippin’

Trippin’ feels less like an album and more like slipping into someone else’s inner monologue at 3 a.m. It has that strange mix of comfort and unease you get on a night drive through places you half‑remember – familiar shapes, fuzzy memories, and this low‑key tension humming under everything. The record lives in a sweet spot between early 90s IDM nostalgia and very modern, cinematic ambient. You can hear ghosts of old Warp records in the textures, but nothing feels retro or stuck in the past. It’s more like Zachary Gray is using that language to process his own headspace now. What really lands is the mood: slow, patient builds, small details constantly shifting at the edges, melodies that feel slightly bruised but never melodramatic. It’s introspective without being self‑pitying, and spacious without drifting into background wallpaper. You feel held inside it. If you’re into electronic albums you can live inside for a while – headphones on, world off – this one quietly gets under your skin and stays there.
