E.V.E.N.
“E.V.E.N.” is the new EP from iiP, the solo project of Japanese composer and producer Setsuya Kurotaki – four tracks of slow-burning, minimalist electronics that whisper instead of shout. “E.V.E.N.” is the opposite of playlist bait. Under the iiP moniker, this EP leans into minimalism, repetition and a quiet “memento mori” mood instead of big hooks or drops. The title is an acronym of the tracklist. “E.V.E.N.” opens with a looping piano in triple time, where the whole point is the tiny “accidents” inside the repetition. “Vail” drifts into soft ambient space, more like a room than a song. “Else” nudges the idea forward without breaking the spell, and “Null” closes by aiming for “void” not through total silence, but with gaps where the room, the air and your own surroundings leak into the music. In an industry obsessed with instant impact and loud masters, “E.V.E.N.” feels deliberately small and slow. It’s ambient for listeners who are tired of algorithm wallpaper and want to actually hear time passing inside the sound.
